Films

A curated slate of feature film screenplays by Charlie Bury.

My feature films aim to express the visceral, often violent realities of the human condition, with a specific interest in viewing life through the distinct intersections of neurodivergence and theology. Below is a curated selection of my completed screenplays and projects currently in active development.

Aranea

A satirical, coming-of-age folk horror that scrutinises the British stiff-upper-lip response to grief.

Dragged to an emotionally repressed family shooting weekend following his mother’s sudden death, a hyper-sensitive ten-year-old boy realises that a primeval arachnid monster born from the wreckage of her fatal crash has followed them to the manor to feed.

A bleak British countryside manor house viewed through the dark vignette of a child's binoculars, establishing the folk-horror setting of Aranea.

Visual tone reference for Aranea.

As the harsh realities of surviving outside Eden fracture the first family, a desperate farmer, tormented by divine silence and his father’s crushing expectations, commits the ultimate transgression against his favored brother, condemning himself to eternal exile.

A cinematic rendering of a solitary figure in an arid savannah beneath a turbulent sky.
